Mark and I aren't product guys. We are business guys with an idea for a cool game that makes fantasy sports more appealing to a more casual fan.
We don't code, we don't design. We can sell BittyBet like crazy, but we probably won't be doing much more than basic HTML / CSS / JavaScript.
But, we do have a good idea of what we want and we've been doing tons of testing with our friends and family. So far, everything in validation land is pretty pleasant. People like it, the game makes sense, things are going very well. So we've been doing some mock-ups.
To do the mocks, we've been using iMockUp by Endloop on the iPad. I have to say, it kills. If you're not technical, but want to get a great layout and workflow that you can give to your dev team or artist, iMockUp is a great tool.
The product itself is really easy to use. Like the video shows, you just drop the functionality on to the page. Functions are really simple to move, modify and adjust. I can generally bang out a screen or two on the train, email it out and Mark adjusts it and sends back with his comments. There is also a cool, grab and group feature that makes me feel like Tom Cruise in Minority Report.
Most importantly, you can take it along with you. We take it to Rookies with us all the time and show people the ideas during the games, get their feedback and make adjustments on the fly.
There are other applications out there for doing mock ups and wireframes, but for $10 and the ease of use, you can't beat the ease of use and the level of sophistication in the product.
